Very rarely Hermes produces extremely limited special edition bags in acutely limited numbers. In 2019, the ultimate Hermes treatment was given to their classic Birkin bag, showcasing many of the recent updates the House has developed for the chief bag among bags. The Sac Birkin Faubourg is history and modernity combined into one.
A classic style that has been in production for 35 years, this Birkin is rendered in the newest size: 20cm, the newest construction: Sellier, and features along with the Matte Crocodile flap and handles (a nod to the recent “touch” edition), features two classic and two new leathers. Beneath the exotic flap the facade of 24 Rue de Faubourg Saint Honore (the FSH flagship as many collectors call it) is masterfully crafted in Madame leather, with Sombrero detailing to bring out the stone work. The windows are paned with Epsom leather, capped by classic Orange H Swift awnings. This location has been the heart of the Hermes world since Charles-Emile took over the family business in 1880 (the previous location was in a townhouse on a road that once ran where the Opera Garnier now stands). The cherry on top is the Clochette, which has been transformed into the iconic Orange Hermes shopping bag, complete with mini rope handles and the Ex Libris logo embossed in the center. Only 50 of these exquisite works of master craftsmanship were produced in two different color ways (Orange and navy), and they were only offered to top tier clients at the FSH store in Paris itself. This bag has immediately become thecollectors piece to crown any Hermes collection.
